    Hi,
I went for an eye test last week for the first time in about 4 years. I got a copy of my prescription and was told that my contact lens prescription would be slightly weaker that my glasses prescription as they are worn on the eye. I was told that on presenting my prescription, i would be given the necessary contact lenses.

I went into Specsavers to get the contact lens today and i was told that they couldn't issue contact lenses based on my eye exam results and i would have to take a seperate test to determine my contact lens prescription. The optometrist hadn't said anything to me about this.

Is it really neccessary to get a seperate test? Is there any way of know what contact lens i need based on my eye test results?

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah you will need a contact lens assessment. This is normal practice before you are given contact lenses. The Optician needs to determine the lenses are of the correct prescription for your eyes and that they fit snugly on your corneas. And finally the Optician has to see you putting in and removing a lens. You have to get this done annually mainly to update your prescription if necessary and to check the health of your eyes.
