12 after 12 months contract

    Hi all
    Today i have recived letter stating thank you bla bla ;from my gym membership asking me affter 12 months gone to renew another 12 months or go away they wont allow me to use it after 12 months on monthly bases like everyone else
    Is this common practice in Ireland

    Its not common practice in my experience. Most gyms with a 12 month contract will do a month to month contract after you've been there the minimum 12 months. I have heard of some chains making you sign for another 12 but its the exception.
    In reality, if you are thinking of renewing, you must have gotten some value / use out of it so renew and if you want to cancel, just cancel with your bank.
