Put the standard one on if you want to be on the safe side.

And leave it on if you think the sports one needs a silencer.

The exhaust might also affect the emissions so youre only option may be to take it off for the test.

    Can I ask how?
Obviously if we are talking about exhaust that is tight, have cat, and all lambda sensors fitted as original....

If it has a larger bore than standard (e.g. 3" instead of 2.5") then the exhaust will be letting out more gas, ergo more emissions

Stands to reason a straight thru exhaust is going to let thru a lot more exhaust fumes and therefore higher emissions than a standard exhaust system w/cat, backbox etc.

Ill be honest, I dont know how it works, I just know that is the case :)

If it's an NCT fail then should it be on the car in the first place?

Thats a whole different can of worms... Just because certain items cause the NCT to fail does not in any way make the car unsafe.

The car will pass if a €50 note, folded lengthwise and formed into a circle, lodges neatly in the inner circumference of the exit pipe from the exhaust system. It's in the manual.

Does it not make the car not road legal though?
