Sorry this may sound like a stupid question, but does anybody know what a shaker door is and if so are they any good?

Its the style of doors in the picture although usually a bit lighter. They are in kitchen and bathroom.

I personally am of the opinion that they are beginning to go out of fashion though...

As Joeys picture shows, Shaker doors are a very simple flat panel with usually no detailling. Some shaker doors can have an inset slip on the panels though. The name refers more to a style of furniture. It is very clean, simple lines.

And I would disagree that they are going out of fashion. I have never used more shaker doors than I do now. But some previously popular shakers are gone. No more beech, cherry, maple, ash etc. It's all light oaks, walnuts, and paints. Painted shakers are extremely fashionable right now, especially inframe, and with light coloured quartz worktops.
