UPC Digital Value VS Digital Select Extra

    Hi all,

I'm thinking of switching over to UPC for tv from Sky. Now, I'm not a big tv fan, however the parental units are and are rather keen on those Home & Leisure and Travel channels along with those "A Place in The Sun" type programs..

At the minute I'm looking at the Fibre Rapid package at €70 per month which includes the Digital Value TV, does this have a good range of channels? For those of you that have it would it have any of those channels with the likes of the aforementioned "A Place in The Sun" type programs..?

Or should I sacrifice the broadband speed and go for the Digital Select Extra option to appease the parents?

I really don't want to have to spend more than €70 per month on any triple play bundle if I can help it..

So, basically, Digital Value VS Digital Select Extra, which to choose and why?

Are the cable boxes that come with the 3 packages the same, or do you get a higher spec one with Digital Select Extra?

    Thanks guys! :)

And ye boxes are the same going by select or value. They change if you get HD or not, or standard or the + box.

Also, you can check the tv guide for the parents programs to see what channels they will need :)

Thanks Davy, that's a great help! Appreciate it!

Right one more question.. I think I'm decided on going for the Digital Max TV package now, however I'm getting conflicting reports on one thing..

Can you get the likes of True Movies, and the Thriller and Horror movie channels on this package? The lack of these could be a deal breaker unfortunately! (Not for me, honest!)

If someone could tell me for sure whether or not these channels are included that would be great, as I'm about to order now..!

afraid not, the only film channels available on Digital Max are Film4, MGM and TMC.

Think very hard before going to UPC from Sky. I switched to Sky this year due the continuous breakdowns by UPC and the unacceptable customer service. When UPC works, it works well. Unfortunately, when it breaks, (and it will break!), getting thing fixed is a nightmare. Ask any UPC customer for their opinion on the company’s customer service department for an insight on how you will be treated :)
