As someone who has been self employed I am finding it very difficult to get responses from Recruitment Agencies. Any opinions. Should I change my status to Manager of the business and see what happens

your job title is not self employed. put down what your job title was.

Or put down what you were doing: accountancy, IT-networking, graphic-design, etc ... whatever it was.
