Don't know if this is the right place too post it but I've been suffering from it for years:

    On average twice a week

Wake up unable too move and find my breathing limited.. I wouldn't mind as much as I've experienced it alot but its like I run out of air and causes me too panic everytime..

I know alot of people that suffer from it and have read up alot about it..

Its like there are 6 people holding me down and I have too struggle too get out of it.. takes all my energy .. energy I just don't seem too have..

    Its like im been suffocated

Anyway just wondering who else suffers from it.. and I know everyones exp of it is different..

Some accounts say they see things :/ which would frwak me out even more

My brother and dad used to suffer from that,

it stopped after the age of 23.

Ive possibly have had other versions of it, very creepy stuff.

    Seems to run in familys.

Well the mother has suffered from it the odd time in the past I think .. but ive had it since I could remember.. 19 at the moment and is becoming less regular... I dont mind it as much because im now aware of whats happening and know it can't harm you.. Its just not been able too breathe that bothers me .. Its like theres a cusion around me? And I cant breathe due too very little air? and while struggling with the breathing problem Im trying too lift myself up .. Usually takes mw 10 secs too get out of it .. Its such a struggle... ugh

I suffered from this for a while, scared the byjesus out of me. Like the normal I would wake up with a feeling that I could not breath or move..I remember one really bad time I was half awake, half asleep me thinks because I remember hearing my mum in the kitchen and seeing that my light was on. I must have conked out then really fast and woke up thinking this is it...Terrified me for mmm a bit and then I slept sound :D

Oh god being that young it could really disturb you. Tis a very odd thing to happen. Did you feel the same then that you are half awake, half asleep when it happens. I ponder is is due to something like stress then or when you are bit worried about things or why does it happen

Well yeah your awake but your body is paralized .. its like you wake up too fast or something .. was fairly scary at the time and dreaded going asleep almost but I dont mind it as much anymore .. Fairly laid back and dont get stressed about things so doubt its that :/ Just happens it seems .. You get use too it if it happens too you as much as it does me

It can be brought on by stress and anxiety, the symptoms you described are generally the normal things experienced, some people experience an overwhelming feeling that there is something or someone else in the room with them, others experience the last dream they had as a lucid hallucination.

The best way to get over it is once you experience it, release what's happening, once you release its occurring again just relax and it will pass, by struggling your stressing yourself out more and it could prolong the episode.

But with all that said if your truly worried/afraid about it see your doctor.

This happened to when when i was a very young child. I was in bed, my mum (r.i.p) was down stairs, i was lying in the bed after waking up i think. I tried to move and i couldn't. I tried to scream but nothing came out. I felt a very evil presence in the room. It frightened the life out of me!! As soon as i could move i ran as fast as i could downstairs calling for my ma! It is a truely terrifing experience! I never knew back then what had happened until a few years ago when i read about sleep paralysis SP. Thank god it never happened again!

I had this experience alot about 2 years ago, Before it would happen I would here an almost 'mettalic' noise or 'screechy' kind of noise in my own head and it would just happen. As described it would feel like someone was pinning me down, really felt like I was being pushed hard into the bed. I was very conscious of it while it happend and I could barely move, my eyelids flickered slighty also.
The brain is a funny thing and quite possibly it may have been a very minor type of seizure behavour I was experiencing. I am very health conscious these days and have not experienced it since I attacked my diet.. When your sleeping at night make sure your head is supported properly and not drooping over your pillow as I feel a tempory slowdown of blood to the brain could trigger this type of thing. Just my own opinion!

Totally agree with one cause being stress or anxiety. I have never suffered from it until this year, at the beginning of the year I was going through extreme stress.. and I suffered from this 3 times in the space of 5 weeks. Things soon began to get better about a month later and I have never had it since. It has been put down to the stressful situation I was in at the time. Certainly not something I ever want to go through again! :)

I have been getting this for years and years, happens regularly, at least twice a month.. some members of my family get it a lot as well. I do tend to fight it as I am worried about the breathing as well. sometimes I dont and I "go with it" I have had many weird experiences while I have been undergoing sleep paralysis.. sometimes a feeling my head is been squeezed!! sometimes my whole body feels like its shaking violently (though according to my partner I never moved!!) often when I force myself awake my vision is affected and I can see shadows move!! Weird stuff.. doesnt frighten me anymore, use to scare me silly as a teenager!!

Its important to first realise that sleep paralysis has nothing to do with the paranormal. Its a common condition. There are remedies for it, go see your GP if its causing you problems.

    Sure, that is one theory.

Are you sure it's not caused by Lucifer sitting on your chest, and sucking out your breath from your mouth & nose? If he gets it all out you are his forever.

That is what we were told as kids.

    Made sense to me.
