    Hi.

Would anyone know any hotel booking websites (for hotels in all different countries and cities) which take Laser cards (rather than Credit cards)

I have so far just found Roomex.com but there is a hotel I am looking for and want to find someway to book and pay for it with a laser card.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

After the 1800hotels fiasco recently, I'd be wary of using Laser to book a hotel on a booking website.

I was one of the ones who got stung when they went belly up. Basically credit cards are covered if the company goes bankrupt whereas Lasers aren't. I only lost about €60 so wasn't aout of pocket too much but I'd never use Laser to book a hotel again.

I used my laser card predominatly to book alot of my Hotels in Australia this summer on ebookers.ie. They have a Credit Card surcharge so it is handier.

Laser cards are pretty useless as a method of payment outside Ireland and are only good for getting money from an ATM in the EU and it is a case of they maybe working outside Europe.

I have used mine in the United States but they are totally usless in Australia although this is more to do with Bank of Ireland as AIB customers have differing experiences. You really should have a credit card once you go travelling as most hotels require it for pre-authorisation for any incidentals.

There's some dumb advice on here and then there's the really haven't a clue variety as above. You didn't ask about ATMs but your card should work widely.

jack presley's advice is bang on though. You have some comeback on a CC.

Btw, does your bank issue Visa Debit cards? - Permanent TSB are rolling them out at the moment.

What about a website that you book now and pay when you get to the hotel? That way you could pay by whatever means you like. I know www.quikbook.com for the most part requires no prepayment, but I think they are for mainly US hotels. I think www.booking.com doesn't require prepayment either, but am not 100% on that. I agree with the previous advise, I would be very wary of prepaying on Laser card, if the company goes under, you have zero comeback and you could lose the whole amount.
