i wonder that if the boxes are going to be sold why do they not sell the aerials with them and also how many people will be going out to put up aerials especially in the city where cable and sky is dominant

DTT is primarily aimed at viewers whose main source of Irish TV reception is currently analogue with an aerial. If you already have Sky or UPC it may only be used on a second or third TV. DTT is not a replacement for Sky or UPC.

The reason you cannot sell aerials with the boxes because most people will not know what group aerial they require, different transmitters will require an aerial based on the frequencies used at that transmitter. Different dwellings require different installations chimney or wall or loft or set top. Best left to the trade or knowledgeable DIYers.

Majority that need DTT also already have a suitable aerial.
