    Howdy,

I am only driving a month and an issue has popped up with the car.

The car has started over heating after driving for 15 minutes.
There is no other indication of this only for the temp gauge in the dash going up to 110 degrees.
I have checked oil, water and there is plenty.

I think it is the thermostat acting up, my question is ,when carrying the car to a garage, what should I say so I am not ripped off?

Any advice will be much appreciated. :)

If it is the thermostat then the top hose will be cool after a while that she is running. If it is the h/gasket there might be a creamy substance under the oil filler cap and maybe white smoke from the exhaust.

,when carrying the car to a garage

    you must have strong arms

Yes, the fan does kick in and the temp does not drop.

Ill check that tomorrow, that would be the hose leading to the radiator from the coolant?

If your thermostat is sticking shut, the rad itself will be cold to the touch.

The rad fan is controlled by a thermoswitch ...and the fact you say your fan is kicking in makes me think that the rad *is* getting hot, in which case t-stat *might* be ok, or just lazy. (does temp go down at all, or do you think the gauge would just keep rising 'til she boiled?)

If t-stat is opening (i.e rad is getting hot), and t-switch is working (fan is running)....then I would start to wonder if its an air-lock instead...so cheapest option for now might be to ask garage to bleed the coolant system, then see where you're at with it.

As others have suggested, also check inside the oil filler cap for creamy blancmange, which would indicate that your head gasket is on its way out.
