Have to say I'm a HUGE fan of the President.

But just looking at the final there, and she held her head high, but didn't sing the song.
    Why is that?

    She might have been humming.

By your thread title I thought you meant go out on to the pitch and sing it by herself

It's a ****e anthem. Glorifies a bunch of terrorists. Maybe she doesn't agree with it's sentiment herself. It needs to be changed.

Just switched it on there now, and missed that. Are you sure it wasn't the Presidential anthem they were playing? Basically, it's a shorter version of the anthem.

Nah, was written about the lads who actually fought without resorting to bombing pubs. Not terrorists at all really.

That was the Presidential address not the anthem. You would think someone being uppity about the anthem would know the difference.

That's PRESIDENT McAleese to you, boyo

Don't think the head of state should be forced too. Can't see the Queen singing along to 'God save....me'.

The Irish national anthem should be "God help us".

Wouldnt think so. Anthems are for plebs to roar while out of tune. They arent for heads of state.

I 'd love to see her orange husband bounce out grab the mike and give the irish anthem a go - failing that give the sash a lash for his drinking buddies in east belfast

Howya Kevin. I didn't know you had an account on boards. Shouldn't you be writing for the Sindo instead of boards?
