Out of all the churches. It makes you feel like your in Florence in Italy or some exotic place like that.

Or else just reawakens what Ireland is really like sligtely, as i'm living here all the time.

Local church bells' rang 30 times this morning. What time is that?

Try living with three churches in the neighbourhood. Bells Hell

    edit: there they go again

I quite like them. I lived across the street from the Mullingar Cathedral for some time and didn't have a choice but to like them so I guess that's where that comes from. Though, when it started skipping notes of the little song and generally not making much sense it started to get annoying.
There's churches EVERYWHERE here in Flensburg; the bells only go off I think maybe 4-5 times a day? But when one goes off, they all go off, so the town erupts with them. It's kinda cool.

hate to say this, its not only the catholic church that sounds its bell. where i grew up in london a couple of the anglian/church of england churches in the areas regularly shounded their bells

regardless of the religion their is something about hearing them, and the sunday connection, enjoyed hearing them, last time i did was only holiday in places like france or spain, have nor heard one here in years.

There's literally 7 I can think of within a mile radius of where I am right now. 7! There's probably more I just don't know about.

The Church needs to modernize. Replace the bells with vuvuzelas.

Woken up by bells when hungover on a sunday?
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was making catholics think churchbells are cool.

I dont think there's any near me, if there are I sleep through them.

I've been known to play Hells Bells by AC/DC on guitar during the angelus.

Hahah, and here I thought for year that our local church had a wonky clock cause it never seemed to ring bang on the hour. :o

How many of them are actual bells though? I know a lot of churches don't use theirs anymore and have a recording playing over a sound system instead. There's something quite nice when it's on a quiet Sunday and you can hear the chimes drifting on the wind.

I liked that old Weetabix ad where the bell ringers played the A-Team theme tune. I'd like church bells if they played 80s tv themes. MacGyver, Star Trek TNG, He-Man.................

I find it annoying if ever I were staying somewhere and the church bells ringing, gives me a headache.

I have no idea about the one in Mullingar tbh.

It used to play a little tune every time it went off, in the last six months or so it started to just drop various notes and the song didn't make sense anymore. It never got fixed, either, but it wasn't always like that so I doubt it was on purpose. So it must be bells rather than a recording?

Hah, and just as I say that I can hear a few bells going off around town here in Flens.. but the real din is at 6 when all 7+ go off. Deafening.

BTW I heard the "cheerful" bells. Not the bells when there is a bang every couple of seconds of the same note, but when there are many going at the same time and many different notes.

Whenever I hear bells, I wonder whether Quasimodo ever slipped Esmeralda a crippler.
