    Hi all

Just having a look at myself and the OH's tax situation, and have a couple of questions...

    1. Tuition Fees - I've got Form IT31, but can anyone please clarify if the relief is also available for professional courses? OH paid 2,000 for ACCA course fees in 2009. I've heard conflicting opinions on this so any insights would be great.

    2. Form 11 for 2009 - MY OH's only income is Schedule E plus some irish bank interest. Does she need to submit a tax return in respect of this?

    Thank you in advance

    1. Tuition fees - you can claim up to 5k on approved courses. You need to see if the ACCA is one of them. You can search the revenue website or call them and ask for self assessment and they will tell you.

    2. yes she should fill up a form for the bank interest.

    Hi Op,

It is a Form 12 that has to be filled in for your OH. You can dowload this from revenue.ie. Your OH should put in her P60 details, bank interest received and her claim for tuition fees paid. If pay rent can also get rent tax credit. If pay bin charges they can also get a credit for this. For all credits that are applicable to your OH read through the FORM 12. You should be able to identify what they can claim. In regards to ACCA fees I know people that sucessfully claimed the tax credit for these courses in the past.

P.s. no need to fill in Form IT31 as you are making the claim through the Form 12.
