Bit of a stupid question to ask probably :)

But a few months ago i played a few times in a pub in Inchicore. The winner of the night took the pot prize. But in many pubs i have been in since have just played in leagues.

I guess I am asking how come there is not alot pubs that hav a winner take the pot on the night? :)

Because in alot of areas theres 1 or 2 players head and shoulders above the rest. Can you imagine many ppl entering in Connie Finnans local if its winner take all and 90% of the entrants haven't a hope of taking a leg.

Imho, if you have the numbers a comp should pay out to the semi's at least. If the numbers are shorter it should be the 2 finalists.

For a pub game to work imho, you need to give an incentive to everyone and give even the weakest players a chance at something. Otherwise the numbers just fall away until your left with the same 8 or so week in, week out.
