Would this be good enough to do a gig for around 100-200 people?

no offence but how are you doing gigs if you don't know what a mixer is ?

Not really as im guessing your a DJ :D

What you will want to get and what you will actually get out of that wont be enough, dispersion etc.. wont be enough either and then if the horn isnt high enough above peoples heads the sound wont travel anywhere so stands needed too.

2 of those and couple of subs would get ya started at a level.

depends what your doing ie: clubs, weddings, debs etc.. they all expect different things to be honest.

Haven't done a single gig, hoping to start soon so just trying to get the basics sorted out. I'm literally only interested in working from my PC so I want to understand what equipment is essential and what isn't.

i think he means that if you dont know what a mixer does you are no way ready to do gigs, even if you have all the equipment

Ah I know that yeah, I'm not rushing in. Just getting the barings, although if you can get the equipment together, seems to be a piece of piss on a laptop!

    Won't be anywhere near enough,

You'll need a full on PA system to do 100 - 200 people. 2 tops, 2 bins and an amp.

Check Thomann.de for their PA packages.

If we're talking about dj'ing your 21st's all that usual stuff, then if we're honest what gigs are any different nowadays? None. A laptop is plenty to suffice a gig like this, and whether you love music or not, it is easy, and easy money!

Please don't take this the wrong way but that's a pseudo-jukebox, not a DJ

There are probably hundreds of DJs out there, who love the music they play, who are happiest DJing to themselves in their bedroom, and would murder the chance to play in front of people and entertain them, but haven't got it, for whatever reason. Do you not feel bad doing a gig they could be doing just for the money?

Ah jaysus grimey how many bedroom djs do you really think dream of unleashing their sets to all the aunties at a 21st?

I imagine he's not really seeing a moral dilemma here.

huh? mobile gigs are easy to get.

proper paid gigs for irish dj's (barring a handful of exceptions - donnacha, chymera, john daly, etc) are almost nonexistent, so the chances of someone doing a gig for money where someone could be doing it for free if they're asking what a mixer is on an internet forum are fairly slim.

Young bedroom DJs starting out relish any gigs! I know I did! Maybe not an 80th party, but a lot of 21sts etc are in rented out club function rooms with decent music.

bedroom dj's are chomping at the bit to play 21sts for free?????

That's probably the most depressing thing I can imagine going on the world right now.

What's wrong with a DJ who's never played out before wanting to play in front of people? Unless you know someone, it's close to impossible to get your foot in the door in the club scene, so private functions are the best a lot of young DJs can get.

Seriously, do people not have house parties anymore?

Yeah they still do, and when I was like 16/17, people were queuing up to DJ at the bigger ones, same for the ones where people rent out places. Fair enough by "DJ" I mean bring their copy of Virtual DJ, but they still wanted to.
