Wonder what dribble we'll be blessed with on UPC when these two "quality" channels are closing

Basically UPC will have three empty spaces to fill!

    Any comments?

Pobably a question that should be directed to Sky as it was its decision to close the channels on all platforms. I agree that its bad to see 'quality' channels close. Maybe they could be replaced by others from the Living tv group such as the recently launched 'Living Loves' channel.

In fairness it is down to Sky:rolleyes:. And, after all, the only REAL quality channels are Nat Geo, History, Discovery, etc. Most satellite channels (and TV3) are merely adverts interspersed with programming. God bless DVRs. We NEVER watch live programmes anymore.

When is this happening as Channel One only "launched" recently?

Don't think so mate, as Bravo and Channel One are now both owned by BskyB...

I know its not UPC's fault when channels close, but knowing UPC i'd bet my house on it that these channels wont be replaced for ages  and still charge me the full premium.

    That sky one closed..
Mtv classics and 2 other mtv ones are finishing up.
    now channel one & bravo..

Again it aint thier fault but we'll get nout!!!

Don't share the same taste in programing, but I guess Sky knows what they are doing and tbh I don't care if Bravo (and Bravo +1 / Bravo 2 - on Sky only) no longer broadcasts. This said, unfortunately I guess there is going to be a gap in a typical teenage male orientated channel which shows (apart from the ones listed above) the little raunchier late night with-an-erotic-twist programs :) but anything than Americas Next Top Model (Living) which seems to NEVER f'ing end!!!!

Anyhow, my main concern is that UPC will do one of the following:

    1. Replace the empty slots with something very cheap and not worth watching (preferably some psychic/dating cr@p channel) or,

    2. Release a few new HD channels which only a little part of the UPC net can actual handle (if there are any free or cheap enough of such) or,

    3. (my best bet) Nothing!

This also kills all speculations in a future Bravo HD channel which had surfaced a few times earlier on the web.

Living's a great channel. Criminal minds, etc.

    No! Not Channel One!

Where will I watch Fresh Prince now? Not cool Sky, not cool.

Channels are going, but the content will be spread across Sky 1,2 and 3 to promote the Sky name, and give them something worthwhile to put on Sky 2 and 3.

Can you keep discussion of the Bravo/Channel One closures to the thread in Broadcasting. I'll keep this thread open to talk about potential replacements on UPC (though I don't believe there will be any in the short term) but if this doesn't work closure may be an option.

You didn't read very carefully! Digital spy posters said that Mtv Shows; Mtv +1 and Mtv Classic closed on Virgin Media back in August. Virgin Media is the cable operator in the U.K. and N. Ireland and has no connection with UPC. The decision to close was taken by mtv's owners and these channels continue to operate on other platforms.
