Pretty much as it says in the title. A lot of forums/fora have these which facilitate general discussion by users of the forum. So I was just wondering what people would think of having one in this forum?

Would you like an off topic thread in the Horse Racing forum? 9 votes

    Yes, definitely

Ye cant see why it wouldn work. Any conversation or argument can be off topic so seems like a good idea.

I dunno, seems like a good idea, but there isn't a whole lot of traffic about. The gambling one is very quiet, and I'd imagine that forum is much busier than this one. I would if it was stickied.

    Yeah, it would be stickied...

I plan on leaving this thread run over the weekend to try and give everyone a chance to reply, and then I'll review people's comments/suggestions on Monday.

Oh, and if anybody has any suggestions for the thread title, feel free to post them here. :D

Maybe a good idea for a thread might not necessarily be 'an off topic one' but a broad one, where it can start off as a general discussion thread, but can do horse racing too, like for little things that doesn't warrant a thread being opened, but people may still want to discuss, like a horse's run that day,or a jockey's performance or upcoming races that may not be huge races such as the Derby or Guineas or GC or anything.

    That would be the plan...

I really should have put all that info in my first post.... :o

I think I was too busy trying to gauge people's thoughts on the matter to consider putting in all the finer details...

Sounds good so. How about calling it...
'All things racing related and unrelated' thread.

Errrmmmm... I'm sure it's possible... Just so long as you're nice to them and don't scare them away! :D

Well then yeah I'm all for it.

But in reality it won't work. the majority of people that post here aren't interested in talking about anything but racing. It would nvolve getting to know the people behind the posts which scares a lot of people. Its worth throwing it up there as a tester and see how it fares through the winter.

How about this meet. Is anyone going to the Hattons Grace meeting or what?
