Having recently graduated from Civil and with the job prospects being the way they are Im looking at ways to improve my employability. Im studying a masters at the moment hoping to ride out a little bit more of the recession, but was considering investing in getting some serious certificationan d qualifications in Diving.

I was wonding what peoples views were on whether this would be a waste of time (and money) or what not. Is there much of a demand for qualified engineers with diving experience. It was a article i read a few months back about the Irish Rail bridge collapse that put it in my head...

There is a niche market for it, under water surveying etc. Collins Engineers is the only company that i have come across that does this stuff (though i am sure there are many more - i just haven't encountered them)

If it is the way you want to go with your career, sooner or later, you might be glad to have the certification.

    Hi ddubs,

I'm just wondering if you ever went down this route. I would be interested myself.
