hi lad don't know any thing about the 2 tractors mentioned but the 290 should be worth between 6 and a half grand to 9 grand

the 4200 series seam to be good reliable tractors we have a 4270 at home which has never caused any problems the 4225 may not have enough power for you since it has less horse power than the 290 the ts100 may be short on horses as well
http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/tractor-brands/massferg/massferg-tractors.html should give you all the info you require about massey fergasan models

    mf 290 85 hp
    mf 4225 65 hp
    nh ts100 100 hp
you are going backwards with the 4225
you would need a 4255 or next size up
have a 42 series mf, great little stockmans tractor

sorry lads made a mistake with the digit on the massey should have been 4255.
I am being quoted 24 for 00 and 26 for 02 massey ,and 23500 for the new holland.
how do these prices seem they all have loaders.
have got some crazy prices for massey390t s.20thou for a 15 year old tactor

i would choose a 4255 over the new holland. the prices are a bit high but it depends on the hours condition etc.

    The TS100 is a 90hp tractor. The TS110 is 100hp!

390's should be around the 12000 mark at least that's what you see them selling for on done deal

26 is not that bad of a price for the 02 we spent 28 + a 290 4 years ago for a 98 4270 . also remember that you will spend up to 3 grand for a good loader

    those prices includes a loader
been looking around garages since not as easy as i thought to pick up something decent a lot of rubbish out there.
the 390t that i have come across are in the 1700 plus range think they are over priced at that
looks like i will be searching for a bit longer

We had a ts 90 2wd in 2002 till 2008. Absolutely cracking little tractor, no trouble what so ever and a good little puller for it's size. Personally if I was you I'd go for a ts 100 or 110 if your budget allowed. Great tractors

are you sure about the horse power as have checked on tractor data and it gives the ts100 as 100 hp and the ts110 as110hp

Most definately! IIRC NH may have used some weird form of HP, but a TS110 is definately only 100hp in "old money". The TS115 is either 100 or 105 HP depending on the year.

Oddly enough the TMs reflected the actual horsepower... i.e. the TM 120 is 120HP.

do you know what is the real amount of usable power.bought a new lawn mower recently and even though it was a 13.5 briggs and statton engine it was only rated with an11.5 power output at a certain speed
is there the same rating system with tractors i am worried that the massey 4255 or the ts100 will not be a whole lot better than my 290 for pumping slurry to tower (seem to be edging towards the ts100 at the moment)
