John Gormley's bizarre interview on Morning Ireland today

I was surprised at some of JG's comments in his interview this morning.

In the first instance, his comments regarding reliance on the advice of the current regulators Messers Elderfield and Holohan is concerning. Are the Greens, as so called guardians of sensibility in the cabinet at the moment, prepared to rely on these mens' judgements to safeguard the finances of the county, without holding practical examinership of goings-on? Wasn't it that sort of reliance on the "advice" of previous regulators a few years back that got us into the trouble we are in? Are the current cabinet repeating the same mistakes???

Also, I feel his comments regarding planning mistakes in the past leading to problems is are also wide of the mark. No building occurs even with planning until finance is in place, finance came from bankers, regulated by regulator!

    Cop on John please!!

Sorry, are you blaming bankers for a country filled with ribbon housing? What of people who built those houses have sold an existing property, from savings or earnings?

or who appealed to their councillors to pass a Section 4 so they could build on their daddy's land and now are living in the middle of nowhere.

I love this "middle of nowhere" phrase that the Greens spew out every so often.

The "middle of nowhere" is in the Nevada desert or in the bowels of Antartica.

Ireland isn't that big that we need to force everyone to live in shoe-boxes with no green areas or parking.

I don't so much mind the "middle of nowhere", its the "everywhere else aswell" is the problem.

For example, why is Newbridge, Co. Kildare 8km wide?
