Hi everybody, I would like to know how much the translators charge per word generally. I have a project to be translated and I have no idea of what it is fair to pay. Please help :) Thanks!

It very much depends on the language you want and type of text. If the text is of a specialist nature, it would cost a bit more as there will be more research involved.

Look up proz.com and see how much people are charging there.

For example, if it's Spanish to English you could get it quite cheap.
But if it were English to Irish it'd be more expensive as there are fewer translators.

I know one Irish translator who gets €.20 per word. The average on proz seems to be $0.08 to $0.10

Are you looking to get something translated or has someone asked you to translate a text?

Depending on the subject of the translation and the languages involved, you can get anything from E.11 to E.85 per word.
