Ive seen this phrase used on this forum and Politics.ie now and I cannot fathom what it could mean, he seems like one of the most bland individuals on the planet, was there some scandal in Brians past that I missed?

And the women of Ireland all suddenly forgave ever thing he did wrong. Amazing what fake tears can acheive

Maybe they were real? No one questioned Brian Lenihens or Micheal Noonans genuineness when the broke down in interviews. Perhaps it was an upsetting memory for him?

Perhaps you are right, just a personal opinion I have. I feel it was quite staged by Bertie.

Bertie Ahern did that entire misty eyed interview without a single break and never got phased

There are professional actors who couldn't manage that.
And very few other politicians with that ability.

Quite the master performer at interviews when he wanted to be

I'm going to get a reply back that you weren't impressed and saw through it all but the point is, enough people were impressed

I suppose its used to describe the weak wristed interviews that are meted out to members of the FF elite when they grace the airwaves from Montrose like the infamous Bertie Ahern tearjerker.

We are talking about the same weasel who didn't blink while contradicting himself both in front of a tribunal and also on Freefall the other night, though, so he's well capable of a straight face when one isn't appropriate or genuine.

Disagree completely. Brian Dobson is one of the most able in RTE and does an outstanding job interviewing politicians. I guess though that ya know... if you were a FFer... you probably wouldn't like him too much ;)
