This might be of some use... The new theatre has a car park next to it...

The Grand Canal Square car park run by Q-Park is now OPEN. (opening times 7am - 12 midnight daily) There are 150 spaces and 8 Disabled spaces available. To pre book your parking follow the link below.

There is some on street free parking off Pearse Street area (Up around Boyne and Erne Street spring to mind) from Friday evenings onwards while the rest of the area is paid parking before 7PM and Saturdays.

As for it being safe, it should be fine once you don't don't be silly and leave anything lying around in the car.

As Ham said, the streets like Erne St are free after 7pm. Not sure for Saturdays though as some streets were changed recently to pay parking for Saturday. Don't park in the privately managed area of the South Docklands(east of Cardiff Lane), they will clamp you within minutes.

You could always park your car across the river on North Wall quay for free all weekend. Its a short walk over Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Thanks guys.Yeh,I'd be afraid that I'd get clamped around that area.I'll check Boyne and Erne Street but may have to bite the bullet and pay park in Q-Park.North Wall quay may be mental for parking Friday evening?Bill Bailey is on the O2 that night,1st October.

Parking along the river is free after 630 on Friday i think, and free all day Saturday and Sunday.

Most of the offices there have secuirty so there will always be someone about and i'd say they are safe.

As always don't leave anything visible.

It's free on the north quays only; do be aware of any clearway hours that may apply and any local parking restrictions that may be enforced if the O2 is hosting a concert. Also, if you have heavy bags, it's a bit of a walk across and especially if the winds up;)

Thanks ham-Think I'll drop bags and girlfriend at hotel, then try get a spot.If that fails I'll just have to pay!

Just be waty of North Wall Quay - they have removed parking for the duration of the roadworks. There are now no signs up so it's difficult to know what applies. Working on that side of the river, I can report that we've had an increased number of car break ins.

Word of warning the area around Grand Canal Dock (other side of road from Maldron) is policed by NCPS. They are very good at their job! Be careful!

Basically is it worth 20 quid to you to park your car in a 'safe' car park or leave it on the street for nearly 2 days?

Yeh,your right, reckon I'll just leave it that q park place for peace if mind.for the sake of €20 odd quid
