Here is a good question that I feel when we answer honestly will reveal to us Christians and Non-Christians alike a little bit more about who we are and will give a sample of what kind of lives we lead depending on our answer. I think also especially for us Christians it would reveal to us how our relationship with Christ is in our daily lives.

Your in the coffee shop this afternoon and someone ( a close friend/stranger ) in the course of your conversation tells you they love you. How do you react? If it is a person of the same sex, how would you react? and if it is a person of the opposite sex who said it to you how would you react?

It would depend how it was meant. In conversations with other Christians, of either sex, it's not unusual in my circle to tell each other that we love each other (in a nonsexual wway).

If it was in a sexual way then, irrespective of the gender of the other person, I hope I'd react the same - by saying, "I'm flattered, but I'm not interested and I'm very happily married thank you very much."

If a stranger said it I'd say thanks and feel happy, unless they started following me out of the coffeeshop and murdered me in an alley.

And close friends and members of my family say it to me all the time, I generally say I love you too.

Close friends of both sexes have said it to me and I to them. There are many forms of love, so it depends on how someone means it tbh. As for a stranger.. I'd say.'......' literally, I'd probably be lost for words for a bit.:pac:

I take it you're talking about non-sexual love. Within everyday relationships is quite natural to tell someone you love them and accept that love from another. If a stranger told me I'd just think "well...ok so" but wouldn't think too much of it and wouldn't place it in the same category as if a friend said it. I'm a little wary of christians who profess their love for someone they don't know - maybe they do it because they think that's what Jesus wants or maybe they just do, I don't know. I have no problem saying 'Jesus loves you' - that's absolute - but a stranger saying 'I love you' - not so sure ...

lol, I told Jimitime who posts on here that I love him...I meant his sense of humour on the particular thread etc. at the time. He promptly responded in a witty manner that he was 'married'...which made me laugh again :D

I think women get away with saying, 'I love ya', and it coming across in the right sense than men do...

Although, they love eachother a lot on AH sometimes
