Leinster are still shopping for another TH so the clocks ticking for him

Decent looking team - all the guys who didnt play last time seem to be in.

Seems to be a decent bit of rotation going on (which was to be expected) but it's being handled well as opposed to ocassionally just sending out an academy team. Interesting to see Sexton not involved though - would have thought he would have come in having missed last week.

Has his injury cleared up? Seems unlikey it has within a week...

He missed last week through injury, is he still out with this injury?

Yes yes they are still searching for another TH, the word here is "still"; personally i dont think they will find one as its the wrong time to be searching but lets put things in perspective here; Ross seems to be first choice TH; after that they have an AIL TH; Shaw who looks pretty good but is definetly not as strong a scrummager as Ross so they do need a bit of backup but i would not call it a crisis.

I watched Saracans play London Irish and there scrum wasnt exactly destructive; same goes with Racing
; Toulon are dark horses though

I think what Leinster have the mo is perfectly capable in the ML;i think the srum battle against Bucklet and Du Preez in a few weeks should be very entertaining

Thought it was fairly innocuous and would have cleared up by now, but I guess it could still be an issue. Hopefully it's nothing serious anyway. Another great chance for Madigan.

What games have you seen Racing play? Because I saw them play Clermont and the Clermont scrum was in all sorts of trouble.

On topic, very happy with the Leinster team. The backline is well capable of scoring tries. Guys like O'Malley, Ruddock, Madigan get to show what they can do in a strong team, last season they only really got games in complete 2nd string sides.

    Ah balls, TG4 again.

If that's the case then Prescott's signing seems a bit pointless tbh.

Clermont sent out a pretty much second string team against Racing I think.

Domingo and Scelzo were the starting props.

    Madigan definitely warrants another start.

D'Arcy and Kearney's performances will be intriguing, neither has good summer tours.

I think that could be said about many of the front line players but I think D'Arcy is much more consistent than Kearney. I don't think D'Arcy's place is being really challenged.

I'm lead to believe D'Arcy had a lingering groin injury before he did his groin badly on the tour.

Yeah I remember reading an article earlier in the summer - it could actually have been on here - that said D'Arcy went to a specialist who thought his injuries as of late might be connected and preformed exploratory surgery on him and found ruptured tendons or something similar which never showed up on previous scans. Hopefully this will sort out his injury problem and I hope he can put in a strong season.

I'd like to see luke F in the centre

According to a recent interview with D'Arcy he feels fitter than he has for years and he can't wait to get on the field. Could be rubbish but fingers crossed we get the D'Arcy of old back

Article on the Racing v Clermont game; Domingo was playing but if your your TH ie Scezlo is absolutely ancient and pretty rubbish your gonna be under the cosh no matter how good you are; That guy has played in 3 world cups since 99 and before Clermont picked him up this year he was playing for Narbonne. Think he was good about 4 years ago but isnt up to it any more.

Also the entire Clermont team was changed from the match the week before whereas Racing were at full strength. with all either on the pitch or coming off the bench so wouldnt read into that too much.

If Ross dominates this week in the scrum, i dont think i would be jumping the gun to say that he would be the most dominant tight head in the ML, scrum wise; If so Leinster would be wise to use him as a good platform if what i say is the case and if so whats to say he wouldnt be able to stand up the best any other league has to offer ala HCup.

I have been incredibly impressed with Ross so far. We knew he was always the best tighthead Ireland has in the scrum but now he is showing greart mobility around the pitch as well. I'm beginning to think he will be starting tighthead for Ireland come world cup. It would be great to see himself and Healy playing week in week out but unfortunately this won't happen with Merwe there.

    Probable Treviso team to play Leinster; this is the team that lost to Ospreys last week;

Treviso: 15 Brendan Williams, 14 Tommaso Benvenuti, 13 Ezio Galon, 12 Alberto Sgarbi, 11 Luke McLean, 10 Khristopher Burton, 9 Tobias Botes, 8 Paul Derbyshire, 7 Alessandro Zanni, 6 Robert Barbieri, 5 Corniel Van Zyl, 4 Enrico Pavanello, 3 Pedro Di Santo, 2 Diego Vidal, 1 Augusto Allori.

Replacements: 16 Leonardo Ghiraldini, 17 Lorenzo Cittadini, 18 Ignacio Fernandez Rouyet, 19 Valerio Bernabò, 20 Manoa Vosawai, 21 Benjamin De Jager, 22 Fabio Semenzato, 23 Simon Picone.

Stand outs would be Brendan Williams on the wing; Luke McLean and flanker Aessandro Zanni;

Hope we hammer them after the shadiness that surrounded their inclusion ahead of the other Italian side.

Hopefully we can keep Zanni and his evil back row minions out of the game and give Reddan/Madigan good possession to open up the game. With a back 3 like this (arguably as good as any back 3 any club side in the world could put out) I'd love to see the game open up a bit.

I believe there was meant to be a franchise based around Rome joining instead of Treviso. There were some financial concerns about this franchise. Treviso then got their spot instead.

The Benniton family may, and I stress the word may have used their considerable influence in getting Treviso included.

The committee that ruled the Roman team unsuitable was picked by and consisted of Treviso members. The whole thing was shady.

On this point chaps, should D'Arcy be on form coming into the RWC who of he, Earls, Fitz, Kearney is out? Darce seems the most expendable to me

Maybe not the thread for it.... but I'm new around these here parts :)

I'm really excited about Madigan, great to see him perform so well last week, and hopefully he'll continue to impress tonight.

    Also, welcome back Rhys!

They're not exactly going for the same position, all could start. None of Earls, Fitz or Kearney are going to be picked ahead of D'Arcy at 12, he is quite obviously the best 12 of those mentioned by an absolute mile.

You can include Ghiraldini in that motley crue, a decent int'l hooker. Just scanning that team....man they are poor, they're team is nothing like Aironi's.

And Aironi (disappointingly) haven't pushed on since their performance in Cork. They got mullered by the Scarlets last night.

At least Aironi have a "spine" of very good players. I can't say the same for Treviso.

Leinster should definitely be thinking comfortable win here.

    tg4 kinda pisses me off.

I mean i have no problem with the whole idea of spreading the irish language but it seems like they could do more effort in helping the people that dont speak irish get into it.

its like instead of using the channel as a learing resource for irish they expect us to go learn irish and then we may enjoy the channel.

I would have loved if they had say for an example put up a page or two on their website of the basic words or phrases that we would encounter during the match and it would even just make it that more enjoyable to watch.

Yeah you'd have to say the weather suits Treviso a lot more than Leinster. Hopefully we won't be added to Treviso's scalp list

ffs, two very kickable kicks missed in a row after getting the much harder one. conditions are levelling it out, but we look to have them well beaten in scrums at the moment, they look lively around the fringes
