    Hi,

I have several songs written that i'm looking to record, purely for uploading to myspace and for my own use etc.

I play live and so have a mic, leads, speakers, pa etc... What software is good for recording? Are there any free packages for recording, it would just be for recording vocals and acoustic guitar for the time being.

I have downloaded audacity as i know this can be used however i'm not sure how good it is. Also is there a go between i need for connecting to the laptop as obviously a normal mic/instrument jack won't plug into my laptop

    Cheers dudes all replies welcome.........

    Hi

Take a look at this post I came across yesterday, I believe Black Rose Studios are looking for people like yourself to record for free.

If that doesn't work out, my bro records all of my bands stuff on his computer. He live's out near Coolock, he could do you a cheapo deal (he's got nothin better to do!!), but he could show you his set up as well which is relatively low budget and he could give you a few pointers. PM me if you're interested.

Obviously Black Rose Studio would be your best bet if you can get it for free.

Best of luck with the recording.

If ur looking to record for myspace etc consider a Boss br600...u can get them for 150 euro second hand. Its not studio quality but more than good enough for myspace...It also has a drum machine / bass guitar effects (use ur guitar as a bass), 8 tracks / 64 V tracks...u could record an entire band with it. U don't have to know anything about recording to use this...check out its reviews. Doesn't have to be a BOss, its just what I have used.I've recorded a few songs for myspace using this sort of machine...u won't go wrong plus u can record with it into the future, and save everything to ur laptop.

    Best of luck anyway
