Because i'm sick of seeing threads about job losses and all that shít this even though temporary work is a good sign i think
The Central Statistics Office is recruiting 440 staff on six-month contracts and a further 5,000 staff on 10-week contracts to compile the next population census next April.

Advertisements for the 440 field supervisors who will be employed for six months are appearing today and ads for the other 5,000 positions, from next March, will appear in December.

Further details can be found on the CSO website.

Applicants for this need their own car and obviously a license.

A state agency NOT promoting public transport, the irony!

I knew people that did it the last time around, said it was terrible.
People being real assholes, refusing to fill in the forms, dealing with scum, idiots, it didnt sound pleasant.
I wonder can a person do it if they're on any kind of benefit?

I remember this one census fella tried to test me, I ate one of his major internal organs with a quite amusing Italian wine.

Tastes even nicer if you throw a fava beans into the mix.

You want to get the dole and get paid for working?

    FFS.

I had a way better job, as if I going door to door, I will be staying on the dole
enjoying the good life, while ignoring the doorbell

I didn't say me? I said I wonder if a person on benefit can do it? out of curiosity, the people I knew that did it went into terrible areas and got grief, maybe someone from a similar area could be more persuasive about encouraging people that its just about counting the numbers of people in the state and not tracking people down.

edit, having said that I see nothing wrong with encouraging people to work and keep some benefit, allowing only benefit and no work doesnt encourage people to take lower paid jobs, allowing someone some benefit and a low paid job relieves some of the burden on the tax payer
