Was listening to iWake Up this morning and according to Dave O'Connor, surveys now show that guys are more likely to choose a girl with a hot body for a short term relationship and one with an attractive face for a long term relationship! So what to you reckon, any truth to it? I suppose a girl with an attractive face is likely to remain good looking for many years but a girl with a good body could balloon up in a matter of months!

I must admit, I agree, I have many male friends so I've seen their 'flings' and the long term gfs . And it's oddly true, well at least among my friends.

but then again, for their short terms the girls range from pretty to HOT (esp in the body dept.) but the long term girls tend to range from plain to pretty usually over weight or at the very least out of shape.

I'm sure they'd choose the ones with the nice face for short term relationships too, it's just that they'll be more in demand. Vice versa when you get a "I can't believe it's not Butterface" you're more likely to want to hold onto her for the long term.

I think this is somewhat true. If a woman has a soft-featured more youthfull looking face it can trigger a man's nurturing instincts (if even only by the tiniest bit), which could help a man decide that he wants a long term relationship with that woman.

If he's just going for sex/a fling this doesn't really matter.

On a certain anonymous imageboard i frequent they have frequent "you fall in love you lose" threads. If you look at the typical type of face the girls posted there have, you will see exactly what I'm talking about. It's insanely obvious!

One thing that's important though, this study was probably done by comparing photos. Just because men feel more non-sexual attraction towards a photo of certain women doesn't neccesarily mean it'll have much bearing on real life.

In reality, circumstance plays a huge role in which woman a man falls in love with. Men might build up all these rules in his head about everything his woman should be, but in the end of these rules will probably get thrown out the window and he'll just say "feck it she's good enough" when he gets a proper chance when the girl is a decent catch (even if she doesn't fit his rules).
Once a man has fallen in love with a woman that's that. Doesn't matter a toss what she looks like then.

If I was a member of the male species I think Id go for face ( but hint at excercise and dieting, for their own good of course ) As it stands, I can only think of one or two couples I know where the male is more aesthetically attractive so how come they get to be so picky?? And how do they get the nice looking girls?
