Does it matter which 2 subjects you pick for Arts?

You take 4 in first year then drop 2, right?

I want to do IT and Economics, so that rules out English and Soc&Pol. Now can I just pick any old subjects for the other 2, as long as I pass them in first year? I was thinking maybe Legal Science from Group 2, as Psychology isn't even a subject, and maybe Geography from Group 3 since I'm no good at languages, philosophy also isn't a subject, and I'm not good enough to do Maths.

Ya doesnt matter what you pick... you just have to pass all four and then toss the two you dont want.

Anyone know what 1st year Legal Science is like then? I imagine it's a pretty tough subject in the long haul but first year could be interesting?

I don't really want to end up being one of those students doing stuff like philosophy or psychology.

go to the intro lectures. I think if you just wanna pass, philosophy would be a better choice then legal science. legal science for a lot of people i know was a bit dry.
there's history and classics but that mightn't suit if you don't view phil/psych as subjects as all four involve reading/essays/debate of views. Can I ask what you have against them when you say they're not subjects?

it is pretty hard tbh, contract exam at the end of the year was quite difficult, not to mention that there was at least one lecture at a nasty time like 9 am wednesday or something... interesting if you like it though, i didnt mind it so i got along grand...seems to lead places too

ahh theres a lot of difference between philosophy and psychology now, psychology on its own is complex and does lead places. philosophy and soc and pol are light subjects that you just do for first year really, especially if you have other subjects with large workloads. dunno what sorta future there is in them

Might do philosophy then if it's easy. It's not a serious subject though, it's the sort of thing you might muse over in your spare time. And only people who do psychology regard it as a science really. Load of gash tbh

its what you make of it, what seems practical and useless for one isn't so for another. psych for example leads to lots of jobs given the right masters education. I wouldn't go around calling peoples subjects gash though, unless you like isolating yourself.

You're new to uni, you're new to a lot of subjects you could pick from and you could probably benefit from some of the ones you're being dismissive about, there's a lot to be learned if one keeps an open mind. I'm cautioning you not to be so rude about subjects in future though. Mod.
