I bought a van a couple of weeks ago and just got the tax book back yesterday. My local tax office is in Wexford town but Carlow is closer to me by a long way. Can i go to any tax office or do i have to stick with my local one? Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine lives in Baltinglass but is in Carlow every day. He was not able to use Carlow tax office, and instead had to send off to...Blessington I think it was. I remember him being very annoyed about it

AFAIK you need to use the office appropriate to your address i.e. same county or online via www.motortax.ie once it's registered in your name.

It seems these days they are being lil sticklers for this and you must use the tax office for where the car is registered. Some tax office employees will just process it for you with no hassle but more than likely you'll be told to go to Wexford.

Or if you the pin you can do it online and await for disc in post. Print a reciept to prove you paid for it etc etc

You have to use the office of the county council in which the registered owner lives. You can do it all by post anyway, just include your DOE cert with the payment for a certificate of road worthiness if you need it.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
