Public reports into road crashes

I was just reading this touching post from a boardsie about his friend who was killed in a car crash. He shared some of the details of what caused the accident (a tyre blow out) and it make me think about checking my tyres when I get home. Presumable other readers of the OP's post will have similar reactions and the OP sharing the story could possible prevent someone from having a crash.

The point I am trying to get at is that do you think it would be a good idea for reports into the findings of crash crashes where people have died be made public in much the same way as air accident reports are released? The idea behind air accident reports being made public is that every pilot has the opportunity to go read the report and it will hopefully educate them and everyone can learn from what happened.

The problem with road crashes in this country is that it is headlines for a day or so after it happens but we never find out the real causes and as a result motorists learn nothing from it. If road crash reports were published then we could find out what caused the crashes and hopefully learn from it and alter our behavious as a result.
