Octavia curtain airbags

    Hi all,
I purchased a new Octavia earlier this year an got the side curtain airbags as an extra. The front pillars (left and right of windscreen) of the car do have an "Airbag" tag on them. However the center and back pillars have no tag. I took no notice of this until I was in a friends Suburb (I know its a different car!) and in his car the front and middle pillars have the airbag tag. In cars since then, any car that does have the curtain airbags always has either the back or center pillars marked.

Does anyone here have and Octavia with curtain airbags? Where should I see the tags? Does it mean anything? I don't want to be in a crash to find out.....but don't want to sound like an idiot when talking to the garage.

    Thanks

If it helps in my Leon (which I'd assume would have the same safety kit as the Octavia as it's the same basic car) there's an airbag tag on the B Pillar (where the 2 door meet) and just bedind the rear doors also. Nothing near the windscreen

    Hi,

I think it's just the way VAG do things - my Golf Plus has the curtain airbags (they are standard on the Golf Plus) and only has the airbag tags on the front pillars as you describe. - I'm guessing that as they're both Golf derived the set up is the same.

Cheers guys. As the golf is the same it looks like there is no issue.

I have to apologise OP - I was wrong about my car - I had a look around on the way home yesterday and noticed there are tags on the B & C pillars as well - I can't believe it, I've owned the car for 4 1/2 years and would have sworn blind there was only airbag tags on the A pillars.

    Sorry again,

    Paddy

PS for completeness I took a few quick camera phone shots -

New car for you! If the dealer orders it now, you might get it in the new year. That's if you are prepared to continue driving a car which is not fit for purpose, with the knowledge that you and your precious passengers are not nearly as well protected as they should be....

Above is a bit tongue in cheek, but hey, it might work! :D Ring your solicitor for a quickie consultation!
