i have been reading the various posts and there appears to be a terrible amount of miss understanding about the grant schemes.

the common thread seems to be " someone told me i wasnt eligible".."i heard"..."should i apply"

maybe the problem is that there is not sufficient information about the eligibility criteria..........

something i think people should do is always apply....the worst that is going to happen is that the awarding authority will confirm what you might suspect...that your not eligible...........

one thing is cerain ...........you absolutely wont get a grant unless you apply....and that sentence is one you can put after the words "i heard":D

Yeah you'd be surprised the amount of misinformation that comes up every year. Ideally I think it'd be great if some officials from the Councils administrating the grant scheme could actually come online and deal with some queries, although I know some of the staff levels were cut there in the last year. But yes, lots of misinformation which no-one officially really seems to be doing much about to stop.

    All the information is available.
It's not hidden in a drawer somewhere, it's actually publicly put out there for anyone to access on studentfinance.ie or a local authority since May.
