Mirror for my makeup application?

    Hey folks!

Hadn't a clue where to ask this but I figured perhaps some of ye might have a notion about it! :)

My lovely other half has decided he's going to renovate the bathroom for me. I want to install a really good large bathroom mirror for above the sink, but here's the thing; I want lights fitted into it that simulate natural daylight, to aid with my makeup application!

The bathroom has no windows therefore no natural light source so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Laura (using my fella's boards.ie username lol)

I'm not sure what kind you should get, but make sure you get three "strips" of lights if you're going that way.

NEVER have just one lamp above the sink, regardless of the kind of light it is. It just doesn't work; too many shadows and it's just unreliable, any bathroom I've ever been in with that kind of light ended up completely infuriating me because I couldn't see details right, even though the light was bright enough. Your best bet is to line the top and left/right sides, that way the light is even.

A few halogen bulbs could be quite good, my mother uses them for painting when she can't do it outdoors because she said they're close to natural light.

IKEA also do an extendable magnifying makeup/shaving mirror that is (horribly) useful.
However, given the choice I'd keep your makeup mirror in the bedroom rather then the bathroom. Running cables and extension cords for hairdryers into a bathroom is never a great idea. Also trying to use the mirror after someone has just showered means fighting with the condensation.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.
