i am a 22 h/c about to buy a new set of irons either wilson prostaff or wilson fat shafts (no hybrids ).. anyone know whether fat shaft irons would improve my game ... are they any different or harder to use or at the end of the day is it just down to who uses them..... thanks

Fat shafts will have no effect one way or the other. Choose which ever set you prefer. More awkward to get a replacement fatshaft should you be unlucky and break one.

What would make a difference though is hybrids. Do get them. Carry a 20 deg one and a 23deg one and leave the 3 and 4 irons in the shed. You would likely also benefit from ditching the 5 iron for a 26 deg, and probably even the 6 iron for a 29 but some experimentation on that one required. But trust me on the 20 and 23deg ones. If improving your scores is your aim , it is an open and shut case.

I was in a similar position except am a much higher handicap (only 28 because they won't go any higher). I'd looked around and decided on the newest fatshaft the Wilson FSX. Emailed Direct-Golf to bargain with them and got a decent price on the few things I was looking and was about to order when I got chattting to a lad I know who's a keen golfer and low handicapper. He just said one thing... if the fatshafts are such a great idea why doesn't every manufacturer have them or why do no pro's use them.

I could explain the pro's things away by saying it's a game improver item but unfortunately I decided he had a point about the "why only Wilson?", and I used to have a set of fatshafts a few years ago too.

I did look at the Di9's and they look very nice. Save for the fact I got a better deal on the MX-100's I would probably have bought them.

I've heard the argument about low irons and replacing them with hybrids too, but I don't have any problem with low irons, but I can't hit woods :)

I have a set of WILSON FatShaft, close on 10 years now. (H'cap 14)
Lovely club and no issues with them whatsoever.
