Given up finding my old one, getting a used iPhone....

My iPhone was left on a bus a week ago. I'm paid on Friday, and after negotiating some breathing space I can suck it up and buy another set. I had a 32GB 3Gs, Vodafone network, and my phone was locked. I have a few questions-

1-However I get my new phone, can I restore my old phone data from iTunes onto the new phone?

2-Adverts.ie is my first choice to look for a new phone, but all the horse-trading (it's 400, I'll offer 300, 350 my final offer) will take time, and I was also considering getting one in one of those Parnell st area everyphone places. Would they be dodgy?

3- Once I get the new phone, can I insure it with vodafone even though I didn't buy it off them?

    Yes, to restoring old data.

In general, most companies that insure phones will not do so once the phone is over 28 days old so chances of getting it insured are quite low.

    Yes, as mentioned above.

I would be warey of phones sold on Parnell street, I think adverts is your best bet but be sure that you power it on to check capcility and that it's not a clone (generally, a clone UI will have dodgy font and won't have apps like stocks and youtube)

No, you cannot insure a phone with any telephone company if it has been bought from another, unless you buy insurance from a place that specifically sells insurance.

Fonesure provide insurance on behalf of Three, you could contact them and try to get the handset insured directly, independent of network.
