You need to talk to him and let him know in NO uncertain terms that this is NOT acceptable.

Ask him how he would feel if you similarly flirted with a random ex of yours...

Nip this in the bud now - stress to him that you have ZERO tolerance for cheaters and if he repeats this even once his bags will be packed and waiting outside the door.

Provided of course that you have all the facts here... :)
And ASSUMING that this is a personal issue for you...

Yes they have evidence, printed from past chats and those that progressed to text messages

She just doens't know how to handle it all, or even how to confront him

There is no easy way or magic bullet.

She needs to take the time to think this through, know what she wants, be able to communicate her boundaries and be open to listening.

    What should NOT happen
    > accusations
    > screaming
    > recriminations.

Instead let him know how hurt, disappointed, betrayed she feels....

No easy way to have this chat - but however done - do it without alcohol, when neither of them are rushing elsewhere and where they are both calm... Try to keep a finger on staying calm as difficult as it is.
