Would anyone be able to help me please?
My situation is i work full time , earn 25,000 per annum.
In 3 weeks my husband is finished a two year traineeship with Fas. He will be unemployed as Fas have told them that there are no jobs for them. He is 4 stamps short to apply for Unemployment Benefit.
In the meantime if he doesnt find work in three weeks could I apply for FIS?
Are you allowed this if one of you is unemployed?
He is looking for work and will do anything but we are having very little luck. 123 jobs applied for this month (checking back on emails). 2 interviews. 2 refusals.
also we have 1 year old daughter

i have been to the citizen advice site prior to posting here. it doesnt answer my question though.
can you get fis. if one person employed earning 25,000 per annum and one unemployed earning zero

Hi Katrina, what I can gather from the Citizen's Info page is that your weekly means must be below €506, that being the rate for one child. It appears that they will count your weekly means as your gross pay - PRSI and other contributions it lists on the information page. I'm open to correction on this. Either way, dividing your €25,000 by 52 comes to under €506, if these figures are accurate you should be entitled to something! Best thing you can do is apply, I mean all they can do is say no!

Is you 25,000 gross or net,if you are taking home 25,000 a year you will only get aprox €15.60 in fis per week.

It's important to be aware, that no matter how little you may qualify for, you will still get a minimum of €20 each week.

you can apply for FIS. it is your net income at the date of application,so your net wage plus your husbands income if he gets ua/ub.if he's not entitled to a payment it will be your net wage assessed .€25000 ,if this is net pay you will get the min payment of €20 p/w.you should wait until your husband finishes the FAS course before you apply because his FAS payment will be counted as means.
