    Hi all,

My nephew is 14 and wants to take up a full contact style. He asked me what I thought and while I have no problem with the style he wants to do, I must say I have reservations about someone that young sparring full contact.

So, to all you full contact instructors out there, are teenagers allowed to train in full contact disciplines and, if so, are there any allowances made for their youth or is it full-on like the adults?

Nobody should be going full on. You have to develop your offensive and defensive skills and then gradually up the sparring tempo. Otherwise you're just going to get injured or eventually put off it altogether.
