Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a dell netbook (inspiron mini 10.1). To load sw onto it I need to get an optional optical drive which is €80.

Is this necessary as I have an existing laptop with a cd/dvd drive and have a wireless router set up in my home.

Is it possible for me to use the wireless LAN, so the dell netbook can use the CD/DVD drive on the existing laptop, in order to put sw on the netbook? Is this easy to do?

In short yes.

Share the drive as you would any other, you only need to give read only access.

I got sent this link today, might sway you away from the Mini 10 @ €205. Although the Mini 10 has a very usable keyboard. I'm not sure what the HP's is like.

I don't think the cheapest one has an OS so if you go for that stick Ubuntu on it and jobs a good un'.

To save Alan from repeating himself again he says the MSI Wind is grand although a little long in the tooth.

How do u share the drive? Prob a silly question but I'm a bit of a technophobe!

Right click on the drive, choose sharing and security and share the drive. Give it a name you will recognise.

Also turn off autorun on the drive you don't want the discs to auto start on the computer the drive is on, when you insert them.
