    htc desire on vodafone prepay.

checked the latitude widget earlier and one of my mates was showing up as being in china (a street address i believe it gave me!).

i asked him and he says he didn't set it manually. has anyone seen this happen before? it's since changed back to his actual location.

would this be a common thing that might happen if someone accessed his google talk or gmail from china and it showed up their location?

    i'm paranoid, right?

I've noticed some oddities like that, not restricted to Latitude or Android, but location based apps in general. I had a phone that would always start me off somewhere in Sweden until the GPS locked on properly.

It all depends on how the location information is gathered I suppose... He can check his gmail account, it keeps a record of the most recent IPs used to log in.

I usually see myself as being in san Francisco. Cell towers can give some dodgy locations sometimes, when in Wexford latitude said I was on a ferry line to france also the temporary towers in oxegen had me in Marion square for the weekend.

It's down to where the A-GPS or network address is sourced. When in Clonmel on many days, Latitude will report to Google Buzz that I'm in Waterford because that's the county where many masts point towards Clonmel.
