The next boards.ie queer beers (LGBT forum pub meet up) will take place on Friday November 26th

Feel free to suggest a venue below

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Pin striped suit possibly. I can't remember the Michael Jackson video, but they wore 30's era suits commonly seen on gangsters during that period. They suit women very well actually :D

I know usually the queeer beers are in a non gay bar esp as sometimes people who are not out go to them but this is fancy dress, so get a good out fit and you will be grand.

Fancy dress would be a good icebreaker I feel and as it's not at Halloween there might be more people free to go.

I'm thinking of being in Dublin that weekend anyway even if it's not selected so if anyone is popping along there let me know and I can stick my head in and say hullo.

Not gonna be in Dublin that weekend *sob* :(

This is on this Saturday - do you not think it would be a better idea to organise an event just for boardsies?

Sounds good, gonna be up in Dublin this weekend anyway! (And no money for the Debs thats on!) Thaedydal it says members and their friends, don't know if that means open to the public does it? Would be interested in going for a lil bit anyway, though would have to find a costume! Its on a bit early for halloween tho isn't it?

Would be up for another boards meetup too, will make sure to dress more casually next time though hehe! :o:D

I know I'm not really a regular poster or anything, but thought I'd add my two cents. I think these sort of meets can be particularly useful for people who don't know many gay people and are perhaps intimidated by the scene. So I think you'd lose several potential attendees by sticking with the Pantibar event. You'll be getting a good group of LGBT people together no matter where you go, so there's no need to restrict yourself to gay venues. Jeepers, it would be nice to go somewhere else for a change. What about Sweeney's? I've personally never been, but it seems to have a good buzz...

A lemon, Thaedydal wasn't suggesting an either/or she was just letting people know about the event on this weekend in case they wanted to go.

the thing in Pantibar never happened, again I'll ask would anyone like to volunteer to organise one for October or November? - If you do, please please start a new thread with a poll for dates (give people option to choose more than one date - we had the last few in Pantibar, Market bar and dakota but ask for suggestions

Alright, I'll make a few suggestions. The only thing is, I don't know if people would be interested in going to a gay bar or ordinary pub or club. On saying that, I know of no gay bars so suggestions would be needed and then the option of which town or city people in general can get to is another issue.

Well if we're talking about Dublin, gay bars are absolutely horrible. Some gay nights for example RIP which takes place monthly in the Button Factory, are a good alternative.

You don't like the alt nights? Maybe I just hate Dublin's gay bars because A) I hate the music they play weekends, chart and diva tunes just isn't my bag B) The toilets remind me of being 16 in fibbers.
The Dragon is OK but it's too small, I like moving and not being squashed when I'm out, idk.

Can't please everyone. But finding somewhere we can all meet and have a good time is what it's all about and I think people here are 50/50 on the gay bar scene.

I really really don't! Don't care for Dragon either :)
I don't go out very often nor do I listen to music so chart stuff is fine for me and I've just always found the George to be more relaxed and fun than other places.

Nope, the amount of voters on a poll does not correlate to the amount of people who will turn up and also 5 more people have just voted - however some of the now 12 are not regular posters here
