what is the difference in hours between a full time retail sales assistant and a part time retail sales assistant?

i was applying for jobs and as i would prefer to keep my weekends free, i was wondering which of these options would be for working on weekends and which for weekdays?

is part time just weekends only or would it be midweek hours?
and what constitutes full time- EVERY DAY INCLUDING WEEKENDS? or every weekday or what?

Full time is usually approaching 38-40 hours a week, so would probably be mostly weekday work, although you should check, as they may spread the hours differently.

Part time could really be anything, from weekend to weekday. It's possible that they'll have plenty of people looking to work weekend part-time (students, etc) so you may be able to say to them that you'd prefer weekday hours, and it may work in your favour.

Best to apply for them, and if you are called for interview, simply ask them what they expect working hours to be like for you, and if possible, specify your preference.

It is doubtful that a Retail company would give every weekend off. Maybe one in 5 or 6

From my experience in Retail, most people work Saturdays as it is the busiest day, although you could be hired on the premise that you don't work weekends and make the hours up during the week??
