Im finding myself strangely drawn to certain cars at the moment & its all because of that bloody Bangeronomics thread. What can i say, im on a tight budget & i like 90's cars. The perfect combination.:D

Heres a list of what i find mysteriously appealling at the moment....

    A 1990's mercs (W124)
    Peugeot 406 diesel - strange i know.
Rover 75 diesel - don't ask, i just like em.
A big old tank of a volvo.
A mid nineties accord coupe (auto)
Citreon C5 diesel (not really a 90's car but close enough)

Looking at selling my soul destroying corolla soon & getting one of these oul workhorses. Anything with a decent bit of space & comfort. The corolla is a perfectly reliable car but i find it a bit cramped.

Volvo... with ya there.. nice 1985 245 or so.
Rover.. dump the diesel one.. buy the V8!
..Accord Coupe.. so subtle.. had to be purple and V6.. classic yank fodder.

    Old Accord Coupe
    New Avensis
    Rover 75
    Ford Sierra

Nissan Bluebird - have a soft spot in my heart for them, I even like the smell of the interior, and they just plugged on and on. If I could find a rust free one, I'd buy it. The 1.8 petrol - even more economical than the diesel.

    Peugeot 607 V6. And a 604Ti, if we're going that far back.

    .

    You have impeccable taste

    I had a W124 for 3 months last year
    1.jpg

Was strongly considering a 406 diesel before that W124 came along.

Currently have what is essentially a 75

    2009_1029Prelude_clean0003.jpg

I often considered Volvo, C70 Coupe, 850 T5s etc but timing was never right.

I bought this baby 4 years back but she was stolen from the garage (apparently) before I collected her

    SideF_blank.jpg

Driving a Prelude auto for a while helped me get over that sorrow :)

    2008_0721Prelude_clean0002.jpg

Older C5s, big bargy ole yokes that I'd have respect for but wouldn't fancy one, I'd take an ole Xantia though.

Always liked the 604. Lots of respect whenever one passed us on an autoroute at speed when I was a young boy. It broke the record for the fastest depreciating car back in the early 80s when a new 604 depreciated more than 90% over 4 years time. Not even the sh1ttiest cars from Korea come anywhere close to that these days...

    Nice pics by the way.

A ford Sierra would be a nice weekend runner if I found a decent one.
A Nissan Bluebird would be top of my list if I could find a good one!
Would not say no to an Opel Calibra either....

    Their my secret favourites:p

A good W201 is a nice choice in my opinion:

First off what a great idea for a thread.

    In no particular order.

    1. For me its the W124. Not just for reliability. I love that shape Merc. The 190E as well floats my boat.

    2. The E39 BMW in Maroon is another one I really love. My neighbour had one when we were kids. My folks always drove Corrolla's so seeing the E39 really had me in awe mode.

    3. Alfa Spider the old one. Just always like the look of it. Bit of a marmite look imo.

    4. Jag XJS http://www.carzone.ie/search/Jaguar/XJS-Series/3.6-manu/201034199336546/advert?channel=CARS
Stunning car. I know that particular one needs a lot of work but thats the model I mean.

    5. Lastly my current car the Alfa Romeo GT. I always thought these were gorgeous cars and finally bit the bullet and bought one this time last year even though everyone said not to buy an Alfa. Best decision I've ever made although will have to go when the kids come. Then I move to one of the top 2 cars above. :D

I'm sure theres others I'll think of but for now thats my list.

Hey roverjames, why did you only have the merc for 3 months?

Unbelievably slow, a grand a year to tax and I found a Rover Coupe. I had intended to keep the Merc for a while but the slowness was hard enough to live with. Good car though.

Got a GT this year too and very happy with it

I am also a fan of the XJS, as soon as I get a place with enough room for it I will be picking up an old one to restore

Agree with most of your other selections too

I also have a thing for the Alfa GTV, I know it gets a mixed reaction but I like it

I'm with ya there not having room means I cant have a second car like an XJS.

I like the GTV but I'd be picky. I would only get it if I could get one thats been very well looked after with a long service history and most importantly it would have to be the 3lt V6. They sound AMAZING.

I'm sort of sick of changing cars at the moment but there are still many of them that I reckon I'll have to buy over the next 24 months if I get the itch again

    - 200sx
    - mr2 turbo
    - Rover 600ti (VRT would make it very expensive though)
    - Some 2.3 turbo Volvo, 850 T5 would be nice.
    - late 90s 7 series
    - late 90s Range Rover

Thing with all the above is they may be hard to sell on and at the mo I can't be arsed.

Yup these things are catching my eye at the moment big time. Would love to get my hands on a late model with leather & all the gizmos with a freshly overhauled suspension.

    Highly unlikely though. 2.5td TAX - 900euros.

If I was so inclined....an Opel Kadet like this one:

They're one bad ass machine, 0-60 in 4.6 minutes :D
It was our first family car so I suppose I'd want one for nostalgic reasons.

    cheers, the Celica was savage
    2007_0610Celica_claybarred0010.jpg

I only bought her as the Accord Coupe was stolen before I collected it and I had a deal done for my Rover 618 (€1200 more than what I paid for her 6 months earlier) so was keen to take advantage of that free money. The Celica was free motoring (aside from tax, insurance and petrol (plenty of petrol :D ) ) as I sold her for €600 more than what I paid for her, that €600 covered the two tyres, service kit etc.

They're actually a very nicely proportioned car. Almost early 90's honda-ish appearance. Very unusual over here are they not?

Ive only seen a few in the last 10 years. I like em.

Very very rare, I was quite fond of mine, sold about a month ago after the gearbox failed.........

She was only a 1.6, 2.0 turbo ones were not uncommon in the UK, serious yokes to go.

Bizarrely (although not really that surprising) late (01/02) p38 RR's attract a higher VRT cost than L322 RR's according to the highly accurate and market-defining VRT website :D
