Ireland and the ESA

Does anyone here have a dream of becoming an astronaut? If so what are you doing to maximise your chances when you are aplying? (whenever the ESA will advertise next) and also, do you wish Ireland would get more involved with the ESA?

    Thanks

I've always had a pipe dream of being an astronaut but I've never considered it a realistic notion. I suppose all you can really do is follow up on the academic and physical requirements of an astronaut, maybe get a good bit of experience in an aircraft especially if you wanted to be a pilot.

I doubt there's really much you can do to increase your chances of being accepted beyond that. I'd be worried about politics entering into it (citizens of the largest contributors being favoured).

All that said I don't really know much about it so I wouldn't take my word for it.

Exactly what can you be doing to improve your chances? Practice the moonwalk?

Learn to fly, become a medical doctor or PdD in a science area, military service seems to help as well
