So you can't drive alone with a learner's permit. How are you supposed to drive to the driving test if no license holder is available to go with you?

How have you been doing driving practice without an accompanying driver?
And if you have, you'll have to find a test where they're available too

Ireland must be one of the only countries in the world where you can drive away, alone, from failing a driving test and hardly anyone bats an eyelid.

As the poster above me says, with notice you should hopefully be able to arrange someone to go with you, or contact a local ADI who would also accompany you.

They don't care. Illegal or not people drive there alone and after failing drive away alone. My ADI came with me since I had a pretest just before but it's not mandatory and they won't go looking for your accompanying driver

thanks for you replies everyone. I'l have to drive alone to the test next week as no-one is available to come with me.

Just hope a Garda doesn't stop me. If he does surely he'l be lenient with me on my way to the test.

Its a bit of a farce tbh.

Good luck with it, hopefully you wont have to risk it anymore after!

What I find most strange is even when you offer to PAY a driving instructor to accompany you on the day of your test from your house to the center they turn their noses up at the idea.

Like I'm not being funny and I'm sure not all are like this but I would've thought they would be happy to be paid for the journey and the wait while I fail my test.

I've often done that FoC just as support to the pupil if I had nothing else on

    Hi,

If my pupil has a lesson before the test I always accompany them into the waiting room and wait with them until they are called by the examiner.

However, if they are one of these people who just take the one lesson and their driving is atrocious, I drop them at the gate.

I had a pretest with my ADI before my actual test and while I didn't arrive with him (I met him there) he told me that if the tester asks who accompanied me to give his name. Lovely guy.
