Getting a nice cushy interview from Sam Smyth ... must be the season for it

Sam:"everyone recognises decentralisation is a good idea ..."

In my opinion Parlon did far more than McDowell to help destroy the PDs.

Proper, focussed, partial decentralisation is a good idea; even if it were only certain departments to the other cities; plus, of course, it would have required a proper broadband and communications infrastructure, which this country doesn't have.

The half-assed version that FF & PDs cobbled together was a disaster, and only served to push up house prices around the country as people who sold small apartments for €600,000 had money to burn for buying their new place and it saw prices go even more out of control.

Then again, looking at what's happened since, maybe that was the aim ?

What with that and his €250k+ from the CIF I'm surprised the man can get by at all.
Has he ever been good for anything except promoting himself?
