I know pine bedding or substrate should not be used with cornsnakes but would it be ok to have the snake living in a solid pine vivarium?

I think it would be better to have some sort of substrate for the snake to feel secure and for heat,I've always used woodchips for my snakes and have never had a problem,I change the chips every fortnight and remove bits of poo and urea as and when.Newspaper is another option if you arent comfortable using chips, doesnt look great though.
