    Can one claim VHI and Tax on dental work,how does one go about both with only 1 receipt?will the dentist give me 2 receipts?

    Tax relief is only availiable on certain high end procedures eg crowns/bridgework/implants/root canal treatment etc, it does not apply to fillings/simple extractions/scale and polish etc. Check with VHI about what is eligible, if you have a basic plan they will only cover wisdom teeth extractions, if you have a Decare policy it may cover more.

    you can't get two receipts for one thing. that implies you paid twice. you can copy it yourself though.

    If a portion of the cost is paid by VHI you cannot claim tax relief on that portion (as the VHI paid it, not you. You already get tax relief at source on the VHI premium).
    If there is a balance left over that is not covered by insurance, and the treatment qualifies for Med2 relief, then you can claim relief on the balance, although there is no relief on the first couple of hundred euro of medical / dental expenses per year.
