My daughter starts a new job in the morning in the Blackrock Shopping Centre.

She's never worked in Dublin before and only found out today that she has to start in the morning instead of next week.

So off she goes to Dublin this evening after her whirlwind packing. She's staying with a friend in Smithfield area until she gets herself sorted with her own place.

The friend only moved up last month for a new job and gets the Luas to Abbey St area, so here we have two country yokels not having a clue about bus routes up in the big smoke. (ha spent a year in Australia and can't find their way around Dublin)

Whats the easiest way to get to Blackrock Shopping Centre from Smithfield or from Abbey St by bus .

    Thanks in advance.

Not too sure about buses but you could take the DART from Tara Street to Blackrock.

Not sure if the 46a goes thataway but the 7 or 7a should do it? Why not tell her to get the Luas to Connolly and the Dart from Connolly to Blackrock? Faster surely?

Blackrock DART station is about 4 mins walk from Blackrock shopping centre..

I'd imagine (as mentioned above)Luas to Connolly station then DART south to Blackrock would be best bet.

LUAS to Connolly / DART to Blackrock or the bus option would be, LUAS to Abbey St. (or any bus on the Quays to city centre) and a 4, 4a, 7, 7a or 8 from O'Connell Bridge (Stop OS) to Blackrock.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, never thought of that.

    There are a few options.

You can get the Luas to Abbey Street and then walk to O'Connell Bridge (1 minute walk) to catch the 4, 4A, 7 or 7A. They all stop outside Blackrock Shopping Centre. Between these routes, the frequency during the day is quite high with a bus every 10 minutes.

You can also take the Luas to Busaras/Connolly and catch the Dart to Blackrock. It's about a 5 minutes walk to Blackrock Shopping Centre from the Dart station.

The bus is probably the better option. it's just as quick, it's cheaper and leaves you closer.

    Thanks folks,

I'll pass on these options to her.
